Our Firm has a wide background of interesting and challenging architectural experience ranging from large individual residences to large commercial projects. Interior planning, furnishings, specifications and purchasing are additional services available in-house. We are proud of our architectural achievements and attribute them to:

Our work has been published in Architectural record, Progressive Architecture, Better Homes and Gardens, House and Home, Sunset, Japan Architect, A View of World Contemporary Architects (Japan), West German publications, Pacific Architect and Builder, Fortune, Medical Economics, and local media.

From project start to final completion, our professional skills in all areas of programming, planning, permitting, and contractor availability assures achievement of established schedule goals.

Establishing a project budget is the first priority in the architecture/client process. As the program and design evolves, detailed cost monitoring is installed. Cost estimates are produced at the end of each phase of the design and construction document process. Computerized estimating provides up to date and accurate data. We have a proven record for “on budget” projects.

Our team has the resource people available to do the job. We have been in business for over 35 years and will be around to handle your project as it develops over the years.

Saul Zaik began his practice in 1956 with partner Donald Blair as Blair & Zaik Architects. After a period of time, Zaik/Miller Associates was established in 1966 by principals Saul Zaik and Jim Miller. We have maintained our Portland office since that date. Our close-knit staff has remained well managed with direct partner involvement in all phases of the practice. Because of its efficient size and advanced CAD productivity the firm is able to undertake a diversity of projects, ranging from private residences, public and private sector work, educational projects, recreational housing, and commercial and master planning. We have been recognized over the years by numerous regional and national AIA design awards and publications but the real pride comes from successful projects and the satisfaction of the people who use our buildings. Most of our work is repeat clients. Partner Jim Miller retired in 2004. The firm continues on as Zaik Associates.
